The Sturgis Big Read is partnering with Belle Joli Sparkling House to offer a Cooking with Wine Class focused on traditional Vietnamese and Asian Dishes in honor of the Sturgis Big Read novel: The Things They Carried. Battles on the Homefront: The Families of War

Location: Erskine Building, Commissioners Meeting Room, 1300 Sherman Street, Sturgis
A roundtable discussion on the lasting effects of war on families. Moderated by Francie Ganje.

In this Roundtable, our contributors — including veterans, family members of veterans and members of organizations that support veterans — share their own stories, offer insights on the challenges facing returning veterans, and provide tips and resources on the kinds of support that families, friends and communities can offer veterans.

Presentors are Angela Sutton, Meade County Veteran's Service Officer;  Jerry W. Derr, Meade County HR Director, founder of Sergeant Colton Levi Derr Foundation, a veteran advocacy organization.; Troy Spear, 24 year veteran of US military serving nine tours, retired U.S. Marine; Dr. Dewely Ertz, clinical psychologist specialist with emphasis on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in treatment and research with application to treatment programs used by the Veteran's Administration.
